Even though I'm not a big fan of the practice, it came to mind as the perfect image of being treated like a queen. Someone else is attending to your needs--someone else is making sure everything is just right. Is that the royal treatment? How do we get or give it? Is it indolence? Being waited upon? Having your needs attended to?
Other images then came to mind. Receiving a facial at a quiet spa (ahh). Fresh flowers on the table. Being served dinner. Having your companion ask--and really want to know: "What would you like to do?" Many are the ways we extend the royal treatment--especially this time of the year when celebrating takes center stage. It takes the form of a congenial parties, gift giving, the exchange of holiday cards and family news. It's Karen's Christmas cookies left on the doorstep, a homemade ornament from a 5-year old, a glass of mulled wine before a fire. The simplest gestures come with the signature of royal treatment when given with love.
May these shiny months of cold be bright with a touch of magnificence for you and yours.
